Attending TASA Mid-Winter Conference in Austin Jan 25-27

Several of us will attend the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) Mid-Winter conference in Austin this week, January 25-27.  This year's conference is a big, bid deal for several reasons.  First, there is a lot of confusion about "what to do" in districts and this is especially so with high-poverty and low-performing districts.  There are prescriptive measures coming out on what is the most appropriate school intervention model. Second, local education agencies (LEAs) are not certain how to effectively tap into those funds.  Third, there is a lot of paranoia about what the school intervention strategies mean to the superintendents of those districts.

Our mission during Mid-Winter is to listen, learn and create conversations that push thinking about creative ways to approach.  We have hands-on experience with a low-performing, high-poverty LEA in the Houston area with which we have worked for just a year now, and the lessons learned are essential to create value and not waste time.  What's more, we have tangible success and know that other districts are similarly situated.

Please check out our Twitter stream throughout the conference as we provide up to the minutes updates on the sights, and sounds of this most important conference for education.  Have a terrific week!
